ABOUT THE 
FOUNDATION.

Oren was a terrific son, a wonderful father and a friend to everyone. All of us can still see his smile, hear his contagious laugh and recall the many ways he made our lives better. In December 2009, Oren was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, and told by local doctors he had 3-6 months to live. The doctors at Duke gave us an additional three years with Oren and we are very grateful for their incredible effors. Still, we lost him way too early at the age of 48 in May of 2013.

Every year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the three of us would get together along with Chip Haddock for the annual "Jews vs. Catholics" golf match. It was the funniest five hours of good and bad golf--and it was great fun. Nobody knows the official win/loss record but that really wasn't the point. We simply loved spending time together.

We did our best to continue the match without Oren, but it just wasn't the same. That's why we decided to make it our goal to keep Oren's name in bright lights and start what has become one of the best golf events of the year for all involved.
